Over 16 years of its activities, Environmental Company of Sakhalin has implemented an extensive program of collection of environmental, hydrometeorological and socioeconomic information for Sakhalin Island and adjacent seas for more than 50 years using its own funds under orders of its customers. As a result, ECS has a detailed and accurate reference database covering the above areas, with data arrays being continuously updated. In 2003, ECS and the Regional State Oceanographic Center of Rosgidromet (RDPC of FERHRI) reached an agreement on consolidation of their reference databases. The consolidated ECS – RDPC reference base contains not less than 90% of the entire environmental and hydrometeorological information currently available for Sakhalin Island and offshore zone.

Over recent years, ECS has been involved in establishment of the geoinformation system (GIS) covering Sakhalin Island and offshore territory. GIS will combine the available reference databases containing environmental, geological, hydrometeorological data offering online topological basis.
